Same thing happening here. Tested v3.0 and v4.0 (@wii.scenebeta.com, i think), only to get the same screen posted previously. No luck with the compatibilty options: "Disable visual themes", "Disable desktop composition", "Run as admin", "Make it compatible with XP SP3".
I've been having some trouble with my ATI / drivers, so I presume this will be the cause. Still, a nice top level try-catch would be nice, even if it just outputs the stack trace to the screen / to a log file.
Anyways, this is one hell of a great app =). Thanks 4 everything!
I found something that worked for me after trying everything here. I opened WBFS and selected the drive I wanted to format but DID NOT push the load button. I selected format first and it just formatted. Easy as pie. I can't believe that was the solution after all this frustration.
I believe this has something to do with Windows 8 (Consumer Preview, build 8250).
Compatibility settings won't help. Works fine with Windows 7.
salut a tous idem pour moi !!!! je clic ajouter au lecteur tous passe bien mais rien n a gauche bizarre non de l aide please!!!
These are just 3 things to check which should make the error stop. This worked for me on 2 seperate computers and make work for you.
First we need to make sure your User Account for windows has Full Control of the file. As it is essentially a Partition manager you will need Administration Privledges to Format the Drive.
So make sure WBFS is closed, then Right-click the icon on the desktop and click Properties. From there click the Securities tab. Find the name in the list of User Names which you use to log into Windows. Select that User Account and make sure it has Full Control of the file.
If so, close the window, if not, search how to change user access permissions on the internet.
Next make sure you don't have any folders open like Windows explorer which list the drive as a link in the explorer bar. If you do not understand what I mean then close exerything except this internet page. If the drive is open anywhere by anything WBFS will not have suitable permissions for System to Format
Now Right-Click WBFS manager and click run as Administrator (very important in higher version of Windows when working with software which makes changes to your system). Once WBFS manager opens, Find the drive letter you want to format, select it in the drop down Menu, then click Format.
If it still does not work, make sure you have the right version for your system, IE 32-bit/64-bit. That should get everything running for you all.
Hope it helps some of you :-)
Oh I forgot to mention I do not think it will work with a RAW drive, the drive must be formatted with something so ie NTFS, FAT32 ,FATeX. This is because a RAW drive with unallocated diskspace has no valid drive letter to select in the drop down menu.
Make sure you are using the latest versioon of USBloader GX. I've only played around with the Wii software and modding for a few days now, but I know with softmods, if your version of software are old and newer games come out, they usually have updated keys built in which will cause it to not load. Also make sure there is a good version of the game. You know, make sure you didn't illegally download it becuase if a couple of bits of data are off in the ISO file then I would assume the Checksum check to make sure the game is a legitimate disk, would fail. I could be wrond about the Hash check, as I said I do not have much experience with modding Wii's, just PS3 and 360. This is the first Wii I've modded and its working great.
So in summary make sure your USBloader GX is the latest version and make sure your game is a full, error less copy (if you did illegally download, see if you can compare the Checksum.
So I keep getting the same error when I try to format my HDD as well. I have tried all these steps and still has the error. Any other ideas?

Every time I try to add a GC iso to my sd card for the wiikey, I get an "estimated size of 1.36 gb". I have a nice tool I like to use for compressing GC iso's, but even when I do that they're UNcompressed by WBFS manager when I try to add them. Can anyone help me with this?
